Frisco, TX — November 4, 2023, Sara Michelle Greil was injured following a wrong-way car accident at around 11:30 p.m. along Parkwood Boulevard.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash took place off the corner of Parkwood Boulevard and IKEA Drive.
It appears that 43-year-old Sara Greil was a passenger in a GMC Yukon driven by a 46-year-old man. That vehicle, according to authorities, had been traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Parkwood for some time before it crashed into a Honda driven by a 17-year-old. Due to this collision, Greil reportedly had incapacitating injuries. There were no other confirmed injuries.

Current statements allege that the driver of the GMC had been drinking, and they recommended charges for DWI. They also mentioned that the driver may have been coming from a local sports bar. What authorities have yet to say, however, is if they believe that bar contributed to Ms. Greil’s injuries.
That sort of thing often catches people off-guard, since it’s not all that well-known that bars and other businesses can contribute to drunk driving crashes. The reason for this is because it’s illegal in Texas to over-serve someone who’s obviously intoxicated, and if there are injuries resulting from that behavior, they can be responsible for their role in the accident.
The reason I address this specifically is not to speculate on the facts in this incident. The facts will speak for themselves as investigations continue. But many of the hundreds of personal injury cases I’ve handled against bars were right here in DFW. I know from experience just how quickly a business cleans up its act once they face consequences for causing harm to someone in the community. Unfortunately, it was too often the case that the only people looking for consequences was my team and I on behalf of the victims and families. Authorities many times only pursued penalties because we brought the establishments to their attention.
Other times, though, police have been proactive in pursuing those establishments and ensuring they, too, answered for their actions. I can only hope that authorities bringing up a bar in their initial statements is a sign they’re being thorough here and won’t need some outside party doing the investigative work for them.
