UPDATE (June 13, 2023): Authorities release additional details following initial investigations. They identified two people from the eastbound vehicle as 45-year-old Sanjuana Escalante and 41-year-old Gerardo Gonzalez, Escalante reportedly had incapacitating injuries while Gonzalez’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening. One other passenger in their vehicle had incapacitating injuries, as well, and multiple others (including several children) may have been hurt.

Police say the SUV driver had incapacitating injuries due to the crash, as well, that driver was said to be an 18-year-old, and there are still investigations into the possibility the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. No further information can be confirmed at this time.

San Antonio, TX — May 28, 2023, two people sustained injuries following an alleged intoxicated driver accident along New Sulphur Springs Road.

According to preliminary information given by the San Antonio Police Department, the crash happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. along New Sulphur Springs Road just off the Loop 410 intersection.

Authorities said in their statements that an SUV was going westbound along New Sulphur Springs at the time when it apparently went into oncoming lanes. There, the SUV crashed head-on into an eastbound vehicle.

Two people in the eastbound vehicle were said to have serious injuries as a result of the collision. They were identified only as two women. The driver of the SUV, also unidentified, was left in an unspecified condition. Authorities allege that the SUV driver is facing charges for intoxication assault. At this time, additional details are pending further investigations.
