Authorities indicate that on August 2, a fatal accident occurred when, for unknown reasons, a GMC and a Volkswagen crashed on State Highway 19 in Van Zandt County, TX. According to reports, the crash happened just before 4:00 in the afternoon.
Sources say both vehicles were heading north on Highway 19 when the GMC rear-ended the Volkswagen while the Volkswagen attempted to make a left turn.
Officials confirmed the Volkswagen driver, 48-year-old Samuel Todd Oatman, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. A passenger in the Volkswagen reportedly sustained injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The extent of the passenger’s injuries is unknown at this time.
