UPDATE (July 17, 2023): Dallas County officials identified the victim killed in the accident as Samuel Stroggins. The runaway driver has not yet been identified.
DeSoto, TX — July 11, 2023, a man sustained fatal injuries due to a hit-and-run accident that happened at around 4:00 a.m. along Interstate 35E.
According to preliminary details from police officials, the incident took place in the area of the Wintergreen Road exit.
Details suggest that the victim was a pedestrian that was on the highway for unclear reasons. Authorities say they received calls about someone, believed to be the victim, lying in the roadway. Their investigations suggest that the unidentified man was hit by a black 2007-09 Lexus ES350.
That vehicle has not yet been located, and the driver remains unidentified. Authorities say the vehicle may have damage to the front-right portion of the vehicle and possibly a damaged headlight and/or windshield. No further information is available at this time.
