How Did This Accident Occur?
This crash occurred at a time of the morning likely to make most folks chalk it up to driver error or fatigue, but in my experience crashes like this also could be caused by a lack of visibility.
Was the stopped semi properly illuminated, with its hazard lights on and flares or emergency triangles set up?
That question should be among the questions answered by the investigation, because commercial vehicles are hard to see in the middle of the night if they’re not lit properly.
