Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When it comes to an early morning single-vehicle wreck like this, people are often quick to jump to conclusions. Were they speeding? Drunk? On their phone? These may be common factors, and they’re obviously worth investigating. But what about other possibilities?
Mechanical failure, tire blowouts, road hazards, medical emergencies, other drivers who fled the scene—even if something isn’t that common, it’s worth considering. Otherwise, who knows what may slip through the cracks. That’s why I remind folks anytime a crash like this happens to avoid jumping to conclusions and instead let the evidence speak for itself. All that remains to be seen now is if authorities are putting in the work to get that evidence.
