Right now, there isn’t any further information to confirm. That’s not unusual with single-vehicle wrecks. Believe it or not, single-vehicle accidents are very challenging to handle properly. In fact, I see all the time how even authorities can mess up investigations into these kinds of accidents. It’s important for anyone involved in such crashes to have measures in place to pick up the slack or correct any errors authorities might make.
I’ll give an example from a case I had a while back. In that crash, authorities ended up blaming a driver for not wearing their seatbelt. But that wasn’t true. What happened? Well, the family knew the victim was very safety conscious, so it didn’t make sense that the victim wouldn’t have been wearing one. An independent accident reconstruction ultimately revealed that the seatbelt had a defect, so it failed to work despite the victim wearing it properly. Authorities completely missed that and just assumed the victim was being irresponsible.
That sort of thing is a lot more common than people may realize. Right now, I certainly can’t say if anything unusual contributed to this accident. I know from experience, though, that failing to get crashes like this in the hands of experienced investigators only risks missing something important.
