One thing to consider with a serious wreck like this is that there are a lot of possible factors for investigators to look into. If they’re only looking into seemingly obvious details, they can easily overlook something important. Things like defective airbags, mechanical failures, road design issues, medical conditions, and other such details aren’t often part of a typical police investigation. So while folks may think authorities would have no problem investigating something like this on their own, there’s just no way to be sure until all the facts are clear. That might require far more thorough independent investigations, if only to rule out unusual possibilities.
