Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

If the allegations here are true, it may surprise folks to see an alleged drunk driving accident in the middle of the afternoon. It’s less common at this time of day, but it’s not at all unheard of. I’ve handled hundreds of alcohol-related accident cases, and they span just about all times of day. There are plenty of liquor stores, lunch spots, gas stations, and even grocery stores who will over-serve obviously intoxicated customers whenever they get the chance. It doesn’t have to be happy hour or last call for people to become dangerously intoxicated and get people hurt or killed.

With that in mind, hopefully authorities are looking into where this driver got their alcohol rather than just filing some charges and moving on. There could be a lot more to this story than just a single reckless individual. Besides, it wouldn’t be right if there was a local alcohol provider who contributed to this fatal accident only to get away with it because no one bothered looking for them.
