Killeen, TX — August 18, 2024, Rontario Simmons was killed following a pedestrian versus car accident at about 4:15 a.m. along Fort Hood Road.
According to authorities, 20-year-old Rontario Simmons was on foot attempting to cross Fort Hood Road from west to east at the West Elms Road intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northbound Chevrolet SUV on Fort Hood Street preparing to turn left onto Elms struck Simmons as he was crossing. Simmons was critically injured as a result of the collision; he was flown to an area medical facility by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. However, he was ultimately unable to overcome the severity of his injuries, having been declared deceased at the hospital the following evening.
