Accident Report

March 14, 2026, Ronald Logan and another person were killed due to an alleged drunk driver accident at about 3:00 a.m. along U.S. Highway 377.

According to authorities, 66-year-old Ronald Logan was traveling in a northeast bound Dodge Journey on U.S. Highway 377 in the vicinity northeast of the Industrial Avenue intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, a head-on collision occurred between the Journey and a southwest bound Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck that had been heading the wrong-way on the highway. The Ram apparently caught on fire as a result of the wreck.

Both Logan and the 29-year-old man who had been behind the wheel of the Ram suffered fatal injuries over the course of the accident. Reports state that the man who had been driving the Ram had been drinking prior to the accident.

Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

One thing that most people don’t realize about alcohol-related accidents is how layered they are. There were likely a chain of decisions made by different people that contributed to the outcome. Investigators should be meticulous as they trace those decisions backward from the physical site of the accident.

There was, of course, the decision of the impaired driver to make a turn to head the wrong-direction on a one-way road. But, before making that decision, he decided to get behind the wheel, even though he had been drinking. From there, I hope investigators look into where he was doing his drinking. If it was at an establishment that serves alcohol—such as a restaurant or a bar—then it’s possible that someone made the decision to overserve him. If that does turn out to have been the case, then that person’s decision came at a steep price: two human lives.

Fortunately, Texas has Dram Shop Law in place as a tool that can be utilized to ensure that everyone who plays a role in alcohol related accidents can be held accountable, even if they were not physically at the scene.
