Weslaco, TX — July 9, 2023, Rodrigo Rodriguez-Garcia was killed as the result of a single-vehicle car accident at around 5:45 a.m. along F.M. 2221.
Investigators in Hidalgo County reported that the fatal incident took place in the area of the F.M. 2221 and Bentsen Palm Road intersection.
According to officials, 22-year-old Rodrigo Rodriguez-Garcia was in a vehicle that was going westbound along F.M. 2221. While traveling down the road, the vehicle somehow ended up going off-road and crashing into the ditch. The vehicle went airborne, then overturned repeatedly.
As a result of the accident, Rodriguez-Garcia sustained fatal injuries. There were no others mentioned in initial reports. There was no indication of other vehicles being involved, either. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
