Laredo, TX — May 24, 2025, One person was killed following a car accident that occurred at around 11:00 A.M. on US Highway 359.
According to official reports, a pickup truck operated by Roberto Zavala was travelling on Highway 359 when a Ford Mustang operated by Jose Rodriguez-Covarrubias was allegedly driving recklessly when it crossed the median and struck the pickup head-on. The Mustang caught fire after impact.
When first responders arrived they found Zavala critically injured and transported him to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Covarrubias was later charged with reckless manslaughter, and the accident remains under investigation.
