Wharton County, TX — June 12, 2023, Roberto Mondragon was injured following a semi-truck accident at around 5:10 a.m. along U.S. Highway 59.
According to preliminary information from authorities, the incident took place along the 6600 block of U.S. Highway 59, north of the town of Wharton near the intersection of Highway 60.
Officials said that 59-year-old Roberto Mondragon was in a Mack truck that was going southbound along the highway. It appears from video evidence, officials say, that a tire somehow flew through Mondragon’s windshield. This caused the truck to veer off-road where it then overturned.
Due to the crash, Mondragon sustained injuries which authorities say were incapacitating. There were no other reported injuries. Police did not say if they identified where the tire came from or if anyone is facing consequences for causing the crash. Additional details are currently unavailable.
