Getting the facts after an accident like this creates enough of a challenge on its own. What people don’t often realize, however, is that Texas in particular has uniquely complex work fatality laws. Since workers’ compensation is not mandatory in the state of Texas, the process through which families can seek a resolution may vary widely—and a resolution isn’t always guaranteed.

That’s why it’s crucial not just to focus on what happened in the accident itself but also what may come next for the family. It takes a lot of evidence, legal tools, and strategy to navigate the legal maze that is Texas work fatality law. The sooner steps are taken to prepare for that process, the better.
