Fort Worth, TX — January 1, 2024, Robert Cooley was injured following a single-vehicle car accident at around 2:00 a.m. on Highway 183.
Preliminary statements from authorities say that the accident happened along the eastbound lanes of Highway 183 in the area of FAA Boulevard.

It appears that 66-year-old Robert Cooley was in a Chevy Colorado going along the freeway. At an exit ramp, the vehicle somehow went to the right and crashed into the impact barrels at the off-ramp. This caused the vehicle to overturn repeatedly, and Cooley was reportedly partially ejected during the rollover. As a result, Cooley appeared to have been seriously injured in the crash. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Right now, the cause of the crash can’t be confirmed. The fact authorities have not mentioned anything specific yet is hopefully a sign they’re waiting until they know more about things like mechanical issues, road hazards, medical conditions, or manufacturers’ defects, which are challenging to investigate properly.
Unfortunately, though, many people end up jumping to conclusions after single-vehicle wrecks. The fact things like speeding, fatigue, alcohol, and distraction are common leads people to just assume that every driver in a single-vehicle wreck must have done something wrong. But without clear evidence on way or another, it’s not fair to throw around blame like that. That’s why I hope authorities here are being more prudent than that so that the evidence can speak for itself.
