I find that something I get the most push-back on from readers is even suggesting that the driver in a single-vehicle may have been injured due to factors not necessarily within their control. With things like mechanical defects, road hazards, medical emergencies, and tire blowouts (to name a few examples), it would be irresponsible not to rule out those possibilities even if they may be less common.

Even if something more common leads to a crash, such as distraction or drunk driving, there can still be extenuating circumstances parallel to those factors which authorities on their own aren’t equipped to address properly. If the evidence comes to light and shows nothing unusual happened, then that’s that. But failing to let the evidence speak for itself is just asking for something important to slip through the cracks.

I certainly can’t speculate about what all happened here. But if there hasn’t been a proper consideration of all the factors leading up to the accident, then no one should feel confident drawing any sort of conclusions.
