Dallas, TX — July 27, 2024, a Richardson man and one other were injured due to a car accident at around 2:15 a.m. on the Dallas North Tollway.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened along southbound lanes of the tollway near Spring Creek Parkway.

Investigators said that a 31-year-old Richardson man and another man were in a Mercedes-Benz going along southbound lanes of DNT. As they did so, a Lexus SUV also going southbound somehow left its lane and crashed into the Mercedes-Benz. Due to this, the Richardson man had moderate injuries while his passenger reportedly was seriously injured. No other injuries were reported.

While no further details can be confirmed right now, authorities mentioned looking into alcohol as a potential factor. This could be simply due to the fact the crash was just a few minutes after bars close. I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers for over-serving customers who then get into accidents. Most of them are in the hours surround last call as these reckless establishments send people out onto the roads to get themselves or others hurt.
Maybe that isn’t what happened here, but then authorities rarely ever look into that possibility, instead putting all of the focus on the crash itself. Important as that is, victims and families have rights, and they have legal avenues to consider after a serious accident like this. There should always be enough information available to them to explore those possible avenues. Right now, it seems like there may need to be more thorough investigations to provide that kind of information.
