Houston, TX — August 24, 2024, one person was killed following a wrong-way car accident at approximately 1:30 p.m. along Canal Street.
According to authorities, a 28-year-old man was traveling in a westbound Dodge Avenger on Canal Street in the vicinity of North Live Oak Street when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, a Chevrolet Tahoe began traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Canal Street. This led to a collision with the oncoming Dodge. The man who had been behind the wheel of the Avenger suffered reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the wreck and was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Tahoe suffered minor injuries, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time.
