San Antonio, TX — July 8, 2023, Ricardo Garcia was killed due to an alleged hit-and-run accident at around 2:30 a.m. along I-37.
Officials said that the accident happened overnight Friday to Saturday in the area of the I-37 and I-10 interchange, just off Steves Avenue.
Initially, details suggested the incident may have been a single-vehicle wreck. New details indicate a driver has been arrested for leaving the scene of the fatal crash. Statements from authorities say that 61-year-old Ricardo Garcia was in a vehicle along I-37. That vehicle was rear-ended by a Pontiac, police say, causing Garcia’s vehicle to overturned off-road. The other vehicle then apparently left the scene.
Garcia sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Through anonymous tips, authorities say they arrested a driver who allegedly admitted to being involved in the crash and also to drinking prior to the accident. Right now, details suggest only that there are pending charges for failure to stop and render aid.
