Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

The stated injuries are what stood out to me in this crash. Generally speaking, no one’s going to be going fast enough in a parking lot to really cause such serious injuries. Maybe this is an exception, or maybe the severity of the injuries aren’t what authorities describe. But I have to wonder if anyone has examined the victim’s vehicle for something like a defect.

Airbag failure, faulty seatbelts, seatbacks not holding up in the collision—these are things which get plenty of people hurt, yet they rarely get attention from authorities. That’s obviously a problem because if someone is hurt because of mistakes someone else made, there needs to be accountability. The cause of the crash is one thing, but the cause of the injuries is something investigators too often neglect to consider. That’s why I wonder if there’s more to this story than even those involved in the crash might know.
