Pecos County, TX — August 20, 2024, Rene Morales was injured following a car accident shortly before 1:00 a.m. along Interstate Highway 10.
According to authorities, 63-year-old Rene Morales was traveling in an eastbound Dodge Caravan minivan on I.H. 10 in the vicinity west of S.H. 340 when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that the minivan struck a deer, causing the vehicle to lose control, veering to the right and over the median dividing the active lanes of the highway from the frontage road. It then overturned, rolling an unknown number of times before coming to a stop resting on its roof. Morales suffered reportedly fatal injuries due to the wreck and was declared deceased at the scene.
