Harris County, TX — March 30, 2023, Regina Avila was fatally injured following an accident where a vehicle struck her, then left the scene.
Investigators said that the incident happened at around 10:25 p.m. along Sam Houston Parkway off Veterans Memorial Drive.
It appears that 57-year-old Regina Avila was walking at the time and entered lanes of the westbound Sam Houston Toll Road service road. While walking, a vehicle struck Avila, then left the scene. Avila ultimately succumbed to fatal injuries as a result of the accident.

It’s just shameful when someone runs from an accident scene like this. Families at least deserve some sense of closure after a deadly accident, and knowing someone involved in their loved one’s death is still out there only keeps that wound open.
As such, closure in these situations means finding the person responsible, and that usually means keeping the details in the public as much as possible until someone can connect the dots. A friend, neighbor, co-worker, or even a family member may yet do the right thing and help authorities locate the driver involved in this event. Then, steps can be taken to ensure the victim’s family sees a proper resolution.
