UPDATE (September 11, 2024): Authorities identified the victims injured in the accident as Rebecca Willson and Landon Willson. Right now, it remains unclear if authorities have looked into the possibility of a complicit alcohol provider. As originally discussed below, that may be an important factor not getting the attention it needs.

Rebecca Willson, Landon Willson Alleged DWI Accident in Lockhart, TX

Officials said that a 38-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were in a Buick Century going southbound on the service road. At San Antonio Street, an eastbound pickup crashed into the side of the Buick. As a result, the woman in the Buick was seriously injured while the driver had moderate injuries. One person in the pickup may have been injured, as well.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Right now, officials allege that the pickup driver was under the influence of alcohol. If that’s true, where did that alcohol come from? If it’s found that the driver was illegally over-served by a bar, for example, the bar could face criminal investigations, fines, or liability for the resulting injuries. Too often, this goes overlooked because authorities tend to be more focused on finding someone to blame rather than ensure there is a complete picture of what happened. Have they been more thorough here?
