Hurst, TX — August 23, 2025, Rafael Monzon Tot was killed and two were injured following a car accident at around 2:21 a.m. along Brown Trail.
Preliminary details about the accident say that the crash happened off Brown Trail and Page Street, just north of Hurst Boulevard.
According to officials, 47-year-old Rafael Monzon Tot was a passenger in a vehicle going along Brown Trail. The vehicle reportedly lost control and crashed. Rafael Monzon Tot was killed as a result.
The 19-year-old driving the vehicle and a 9-year-old in the vehicle had reportedly non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, additional details are not confirmed.

Obviously, looking into the factors that caused this wreck should be a priority. But a certain details stands out to me here, and I wonder if authorities ever looked into it. Simply put, one person here was killed, but two people in the same vehicle weren’t even seriously injured (according to authorities). Why did that happen?
There could be a reasonable explanation for this, but sometimes it’s a sign something unusual happened. A case I handled a while back, for example, involved someone seriously injured because they had a defective seatbelt. Authorities completely overlooked that defect because they never even bothered considering it. I’m not saying that happened here, necessarily, but it’s important that families know investigators haven’t ignored any important possible factors.
