Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
While the exact cause of the crash remains unconfirmed at this time, there is usually a familiar culprit responsible for these awful accidents: alcohol. Due to that, it’s important to find out if there was a negligent alcohol provider who contributed to the accident. If so, they can be held accountable for their actions that led to such a serious accident. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always happen.
I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers, and far too many of them completely slipped through the cracks before victims and families decided authorities weren’t getting them the answers they needed. The reality is authorities tend to only prioritize investigating the people directly involved in a crash. If both drivers die, they tend to just move on. Meanwhile, there could be a bar, liquor store, or other alcohol provider who unlawfully served someone to the point they got on the wrong side of a divided highway. Shouldn’t they face appropriate consequences?
Simply put, after a deadly accident, families deserve to know there is going to be accountability for the wrongs done to them. So is that going to happen here, or is this another situation where authorities were too quick to move on before getting the whole story?
