Portsmouth, RI — June 7, 2025, a teenager was killed and three people were injured in a building collapse accident late Saturday off Main Road.
According to preliminary information about the accident, it happened at the Portuguese American Citizens Club off Main Road and Power Street.
Investigators said that there was a graduation party happening at the club late Saturday night. While that was happening, reports say a stairwell collapsed, trapping multiple people. As a result, a 15-year-old girl reportedly was killed. At least three others had injuries. Their conditions weren’t specified.

It could be anything from wear and tear not being fixed, damage from external sources (bad weather, for example), issues relating to a botched repair or construction job from a contractor, or even some kind of unforeseeable defect. Investigations need to be thorough enough to distinguish between these possible issues so the families affected by this know they’re getting the full story.
