When it comes to single-vehicle wrecks, there can be a lot more complex factors than people realize. It’s not always as simple as looking at possible distraction or speeding. What if there were issues with the road? What if the vehicle had a defect? What if a local bar unlawfully over-served the driver? Did airbags and seatbelts function properly? Was there another reckless driver involved who fled the scene? Likely or not, a thorough investigations should be able to rule out or confirm these kinds of possibilities with clear evidence. It would surprise folks how often authorities were too quick to move on, leaving these kinds of details to slip through the cracks. Maybe they’ve been more thorough here to ensure all the facts are clear, but that remains to be seen.
