Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

This early in the investigations, it’s not unusual for there to be so few details available. The question will be if authorities alone are going to be able to cover such a chaotic crash. Frankly, authorities don’t always prioritize accident reconstruction. Especially in a large city, they have all kinds of other responsibilities to worry about, so officers may not be given the time or equipment they need to do the job right.

That’s why I’ve found time and time again that independent accident reconstructionists are good ally to have. One of the most important things victims and families can have following a crash is evidence. If they have dedicated professionals with the right tools and training digging into the details, they’re bound to have all the information they need to make an informed decision about what comes next.

So as investigations proceed here, it may be prudent to consider having another set of eyes look things over, if only to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks.
