Wilson County, NC — June 6, 2023, at least 12 people were injured following a pile-up accident at around 6:00 p.m. along I-795.
Preliminary details about the crash say that it occurred in the area of Alton Road near the Wilson County and Wayne County line.
It appears there was a fire in a wheat field which was causing smoke to obscure visibility along the interstate. In this limited visibility, multiple vehicles piled up, including a semi-truck. Approximately 24 vehicles were involved, according to current reports.
As a result of the collision, at least 12 people were taken from the scene for treatment of their injuries. Reports don’t mention any serious or life-threatening injuries. Additional details are pending more thorough independent investigations.
