Reeves County, TX — March 28, 2023, two people were injured following an accident where a Hino truck struck two people along U.S. Highway 285.
Investigators said that the incident happened at around 4:30 p.m. in the area of U.S. 285 mile marker 336. It appears that a 31-year-old El Paso man and a 36-year-old Midland man were on foot along the highway. A Hino truck passing by somehow lost control and slid off-road, striking both pedestrians.

Both pedestrians sustained injuries said to be incapacitating. The truck driver apparently was not hurt. The exact cause of the accident is unclear at this time.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Details suggest the roadway was uneven and sloping downward off the roadway. That doesn’t generally mean a vehicle losing control is automatically the road’s fault, but I think any reasonable person would agree that makes this atypical compared to just someone running off a normal roadway. There could be many contributing factors to consider, and these initial details are far from telling the whole story.
