Clay County, IN — June 27, 2024, a pedestrian was killed following a truck accident at approximately 2:30 a.m. along Interstate Highway 70.
According to authorities, a man was on foot walking in the right-hand westbound lane of I.H. 70 in the vicinity west of State Highway 59 when the accident took place.

Was the pedestrian experiencing a vehicle breakdown, a medical emergency, or some other situation that forced them to be on foot in such a dangerous location? Gathering witness statements, reviewing any available surveillance footage, and looking into the pedestrian’s recent activities can provide crucial insights.
Next, the truck driver’s actions must be scrutinized. Was the driver distracted, fatigued, or perhaps impaired at the time of the accident? Collecting data from the truck’s event recorder, analyzing traffic camera footage, and conducting toxicology tests can help determine whether the driver was in a state to safely operate the vehicle.
