Accident Report

March 5, 2026, a woman was killed in a pedestrian versus car accident shortly before 11:00 p.m. along State Highway 35 (Mulberry Street).

According to authorities, a 50-year-old woman was on foot in the vicinity northeast of the Mulberry Street and Wildcat Drive intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northeast bound Toyota Tacoma pickup truck drove on the shoulder of the roadway. A collision consequently occurred between the pedestrian and the pickup truck.

The woman reportedly sustained fatal injuries as a result of the wreck. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I’ve been in this line of work for over three decades. In that time, I’ve had the opportunity to analyze hundreds of pedestrian related accidents. You’d be surprised how often people jump to conclusions and just blame the victim for “being in the wrong place at the wrong time”. That, in my opinion, is unacceptable.

Authorities need to be meticulous and thorough as they investigate this accident. I hope they aren’t getting distracted by surface level evidence and overlooking important questions. The accident took place late at night. Was there enough road lighting to make the pedestrian visible to drivers on the road. Were the pickup truck’s headlights working properly? Was it equipped with any kind of pedestrian detection system that might have failed? Why did it drive on the shoulder in the first place? Was there a medical reason? Did it have a steering problem? Was it suffering from tire failure?

These are the sorts of things an in-depth vehicle inspection can either rule out or bring to light. Hopefully, authorities take the necessary time and effort to get one done. Failing that, a third party investigation can fill in any gaps. After all, the loved ones left behind by the pedestrian who was killed in this accident deserve to have real answers backed by solid evidence. They most certainly do not need to be hearing “well, she shouldn’t have been where she was.” But what do you think? Feel free to leave a comment below letting me know.
