San Antonio, TX — August 22, 2024, a woman was injured following a pedestrian versus car accident at approximately 2:30 a.m. along Roosevelt Avenue.
According to authorities, a 36-year-old woman was on foot attempting to cross Roosevelt Avenue at the Mission Road intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the woman was struck by a northbound motor vehicle occupied by a 37-year-old woman and a child. The pedestrian suffered reportedly critical injuries as a result of the collision; she was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. No other injuries have been reported.

Authorities mentioned that they suspected the driver of being intoxicated at the time of the accident. That’s unfortunately common this early in the morning, as it’s just half an hour after bars close. Is that where this driver was coming from? Because if so, there could be both an intoxicated driver and an alcohol provider responsible for this accident.
Simply put, it’s illegal in Texas to over-serve someone who is obviously intoxicated. This can expose establishments to potential criminal investigations, fines, and liability for resulting injuries. But across hundreds of the cases I’ve handled involving negligent alcohol providers, authorities tend to just charge the drivers and move on. Getting the whole story may require far more thorough independent investigations, and I have yet to see information that encourages me those steps are being taken here.
