Payne Springs, TX — December 3, 2023, two people were injured in a pedestrian car accident just after 7:15 p.m. along State Highway 198.
According to reports, a pedestrian dressed in allegedly dark clothing was walking along the northbound lanes of State Highway 198 near Leisure Lane Road when the accident took place.
Authorities indicate that they had already been on route to the area because they had received at least one call from other drivers on the highway who had nearly hit the pedestrian. The man, however, was actually struck by a car just before the arrival of emergency medical services. The pedestrian reportedly sustained severe injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the car allegedly had a “cardiac incident”, most likely after the accident occurred. Both the driver and the pedestrian were flown to an area hospitals where they could receive necessary treatment.
