Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People sometimes think the story is open-and-shut once police blame someone. The reality is that people need evidence telling their side of the story. At the end of the day, the process for authorities punishing someone and victims and families seeking out their own resolution are two separate paths. They may overlap, but they ultimately require their own steps. That’s why it’s usually best to have investigators look into the accident with the needs of the victims and families placed at the top of their list of priorities.
