Accident Report

May 15, 2026, a pedestrian lost his life due to a car accident at approximately 2:30 a.m. along Interstate Highway 35.

According to authorities, a 27-year-old man had been traveling in a northbound motor vehicle on I-35 in the vicinity of Binz-Engleman Road when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a guardrail. After the initial wreck, the man apparently left his vehicle; he was then struck by a second vehicle that allegedly fled the scene, reports state.

The pedestrian—who had reportedly suffered fatal injuries due to the collision—was declared deceased at the scene. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Most people are aware that roads and their surrounding areas—especially freeways—are generally more dangerous for pedestrians late at night; however, in cases like this one where the vehicle leaves the scene, I can’t help but wonder if the driver fled because they knew that they were at least partially at fault. Alcohol is a clear possibility, especially when accidents take place late at night, like this one did. However, in order for investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—to get to the bottom of it, the driver will have to be found. More public details about the accident might be helpful so that perhaps someone in the community can make a connection they couldn’t recognize before and help the investigators find the hit-and-run driver.
