How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point why the truck crashed into the tractor in front of it. Was the driver rushing to meet a deadline? Was he distracted or fatigued? Did the truck have an issue with its brakes or throttle? These are the kind of questions that authorities must keep in mind as they investigate this accident.
It’s hard to separate the driver’s actions from his employer. Did a dispatcher or other trucking company employee push him to complete his route faster? Was he on the road for longer than he was supposed to be? Did the truck have a mechanical issue that contributed to this crash because it hadn’t gotten scheduled maintenance?
The investigation should provide a clear picture of what caused this accident. If authorities can’t provide answers to the questions plaguing the tractor driver’s family, they may opt to have an independent investigator look into this crash.
