How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point why these vehicles came together. Was one driver distracted? Did one swerve to avoid an object in the road? Did one have an issue with its steering mechanism? These are the kind of questions that must be answered by investigators, either police or an independent third-party.
Physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage should help investigators piece together how this crash happened, while cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time.
A qualified expert will need to examine the vehicles in a laboratory setting if investigators suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this accident because most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such inspections, in my experience.
The Subaru driver’s family deserves to get answers to any lingering questions they have about this crash.
