Lakewood, WA — June 1, 2023, a truck driver was injured in a single-vehicle truck accident around 2:51 a.m. on Interstate 5 in Lakewood.
Sources report a tractor-trailer was northbound on the interstate near the exit for S.R. 512/South Tacoma Way when the truck somehow drove off the road through a metal guard rail and partially up the embankment. The truck then reportedly overturned onto its driver’s side, struck the overpass, and jack-knifed back into the outer lane of the highway.
The truck driver reportedly suffered minor injuries, and officials believe he may have been fatigued at the time of the crash. Authorities have not released if the trucking company had asked the driver to violate the hours-of-service requirements.
