Jefferson County, TN — June 1, 2023, one person was injured in a multi-truck accident that caused one semi-truck to fall off an I-40 overpass in Jefferson County.
Officials report two semi-trucks were traveling eastbound on I-40 approaching the overpass with I-81 when one of the trucks swerved and collided with the other. Some sources report an SUV had cut in front of the first semi-truck and then continued on failing to stop for the resulting accident, however, this has not been confirmed.
When the two trucks collided the second truck was forced off the road where it then overturned. The overturned truck then reportedly came to a stop on its roof on the grassy section partially under the overpass and on I-81. The driver of this semi-truck was reportedly injured. No other injuries have been reported.
