Polk County, NC — July 13, 2023, a truck driver was injured in a single-vehicle rollover truck accident around 5:30 a.m. on I-26 in Polk County.

According to authorities, the victim’s semi-truck was westbound on the highway, at mile marker 62, when the truck somehow veered off the road and overturned onto its passenger side. Investigators report the semi was hauling gasoline which then leaked, caught fire, and spread to the nearby woodline. Sources report the fire was contained and the road was reopened a little less than 3 hours later.

The truck driver reportedly sustained incapacitating injuries and was air-lifted to Spartanburg Regional.

Authorities have not released the cause of the crash at this time.
