Hardin County, TX — April 1, 2025, one person was injured in a suspected drunk driver accident at about 2:15 a.m. on F.M 92 north of Silsbee.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2021 Toyota Corolla was heading north in the wrong lane when it collided with a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis near Red Oak Drive.

The 45-year-old woman driving the Mercury was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.

The Toyota driver, who suffered minor injuries, is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, but is not facing charges at this time, the report states. She was cited for driving in the wrong lane.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Hardin County crash.

How Did This Accident Occur?

The indication that alcohol played a role in this crash may warrant an expanded investigation. If tests prove the Toyota driver was intoxicated at the time of this collision someone needs to look into where she got her alcohol.

It’s one thing if she had been drinking at home before getting behind the wheel, but an alcohol provider like a bar or restaurant may share responsibility for the injuries she caused under Texas law if she was served while obviously intoxicated. I’m not saying that is what happened in this instance, but it is worth investigating so the injured woman and her family know everyone who played a role in this crash.

That may have to be done by an independent investigator because in my experience most law enforcement agencies don’t look very far beyond the scene of an accident in their investigations.
