How Did This Accident Occur?

Did this Grand Am crash because the driver was distracted or fatigued? Or did it swerve to avoid something in the road? Or did it have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? At this point, we only have assumptions or guesswork to help answers those questions, so it is best to wait until some facts become clear in the investigation.

Cell phone records may show if the driver was distracted. Video footage may show if there was a hazard in the road. It likely will take a forensic examination of the car to determine if it had a mechanical problem. That must be done by a qualified expert in a laboratory setting, which is not something most law enforcement agencies have in their arsenal, so the injured passenger’s family may opt for an independent review of this crash.

At the end of the day, investigations are about finding answers to as many of the victims’ lingering questions as possible.
