Liberty County, TX — March 3, 2024, an Onalaska man was killed after a single-vehicle car accident at around 5:25 p.m. along County Road 370.
Authorities said they were called out to the area several miles south of Cleveland and east of I-69/U.S. 59.

It appears that a 37-year-old Onalaska man was in a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling eastbound on C.R. 370. It seems the vehicle apparently hit a bump in the road, causing it to lose control. The vehicle traveled off the side of the road where it hit a mailbox. Following that, the Jeep then went left back across the roadway, began to skid, and then overturned.
The Onalaska man died due to the crash. No one else appeared to have been involved. Right now, the exact factors surrounding the crash can’t be confirmed.

Generally speaking, people tend to only consider drivers when it comes to car accidents. But authorities mentioning a bump in the road could be more significant than folks may think. It could be that the bump is a known issue to locals or is something that local officials have received complaints about. Is this in an unreasonable hazard? Is the roadway lacking signage or lighting? Have accidents like this happened before?
There may be other, more common possible factors, but it’s important to keep in mind that getting a family the answers they need sometimes requires asking uncommon questions.
