San Antonio, TX — May 21, 2024, Ole Thompson Ernst Jr. was killed as the result of a single-vehicle car accident at around 4:45 p.m. along Glen Mont Drive.
According to officials, the incident took place off the corner of Glen Mont Drive and Glen Pass Street in the Northeast Side area.
Investigators said that 71-year-old Ole Thompson Ernst Jr. was in a Toyota Camry going northbound on Glen Mont. It appears Ernst’s vehicle crashed into the back of a trailer hooked to a truck that was parked along the side of the roadway. As a result, Ernst was killed. No one else was injured.

While people tend to jump to conclusions when a vehicle hits another that is stationary, this may not be as simple as folks may think. This appears to be a pretty narrow neighborhood street, and it seems odd that someone during the daytime would crash into just any old parked vehicle. Have investigators considered the parked truck and trailer? Was it oversized? Was it sticking out into the roadway too far? Was vision obstructed somehow? Likely or not, there could be many factors that led to this crash which a typical crash investigation could overlook. Considering the possibility of something less common contributing to the accident may be important for ensuring the victim’s loved ones get the answers they deserve.
