Harris County, TX — March 9, 2023, an Old River-Winfree woman was injured due to an accident involving a semi-truck along Interstate 10.
Preliminary details about the crash said that the accident happened at around 12:14 p.m. along I-10 in the area of Bayou Road.

Authorities said that a 32-year-old Old River-Winfree woman was in a Chevy Suburban going westbound along the East Freeway service road. Ahead, police say that an 18-wheeler failed to yield, colliding with the Chevy.
The Old River-Winfree woman had incapacitating injuries, details say. No one else was hurt.

If what these details say is true, then one can only wonder what led the truck driver to pull out into the roadway. This isn’t exactly a dark rural highway. It’s in the Channelview area just outside of Houston, and it happened in the middle of the day. Those should be pretty favorable conditions for just about any driver to see an approaching vehicle.
Maybe there was something unusual blocking visibility or some other factor that authorities wouldn’t catch on their first look. But my experience unsurprisingly tells me this sort of thing is more often the result of someone who just wasn’t paying attention. Whether or not that’s what happened here will depend on evidence not yet available to the public.
