UPDATE (May 21, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify some of the details of what happened leading up to and during this accident. According to these reports, 32-year-old Officer Nancy Dominguez was traveling in a northeast bound Honda Civic on Farm to Market 3286, Lucas Road, in the vicinity southwest of Lakeview Drive when the accident took place.
The weather and road conditions in the area at the time are reported to have been rainy and wet. Officials indicate that, allegedly due to these conditions, a southwest bound Ford F-150 pickup truck occupied by a 52-year-old man and two 49-year-old women failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly lost control on the wet roads, going into a side skid and entering the oncoming lane of traffic. This led to a T-bone collision between the right side of the pickup truck and the front-end of the Honda. Each of the vehicles left the roadway, entering the barrow ditch on the south side of the road. The pickup truck reportedly overturned before coming to a stop resting on its left side. The Civic did not overturn, coming to a stop upright.
Officer Dominguez was fatally injured due to the wreck. One of the women from the pickup suffered moderate injuries, and the other two occupants of the pickup were only minorly injured. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. The investigation is still ongoing.
Lucas, TX — April 20, 2024, Officer Nancy Dominguez was killed following an off-duty car accident shortly before 5:30 p.m. along East Lucas Road.
According to authorities, the accident took place in the vicinity of the East Lucas Road and Lakeview Drive intersection.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, two vehicles were involved in a collision at the intersection. The cause of the accident remains unclear. Dominguez reportedly incurred critical injuries as a result of the wreck; she was transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive immediate treatment. However, she was ultimately unable to overcome the severity of her injuries, having later been declared deceased. No other injuries have been reported.
