El Paso, TX — December 27, 2024, a North Carolina man and two others were injured following a car accident at around 2:00 a.m. along Interstate 10.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened off of eastbound lanes of the interstate near North Yarbrough Drive.
According to officials, a 33-year-old North Carolina man and a 33-year-old woman were in a Porsche going eastbound on the interstate. While doing so, the Porsche and a Nissan Maxima collided. Due to this, the driver of the Nissan sustained serious injuries.
The North Carolina man and his passenger had apparently minor injuries. Authorities allege that the Nissan driver was under the influence of alcohol, and they recommended he be charged for DWI.

If it’s true that alcohol contributed to this accident, that can make things a lot more complex than people may realize. Anytime alcohol leads to a crash, one critical question needs to be asked: where did that driver get their alcohol?
Under Texas law, it’s illegal for bars, restaurants, or any other alcohol provider to over-serve someone who is obviously intoxicated. If an establishment ignored this rule and continued to serve the driver, they may share responsibility for what happened here.Texas dram shop laws exist to hold such establishments accountable, not just to help the victims of alcohol-related crashes but also to promote safer alcohol service across the state.
Unfortunately, this isn’t always something on the authorities’ radar. As a result, negligent alcohol providers may slip through the cracks if steps aren’t taken to follow up with more thorough independent investigations.
