Accident Report

Canton Township, MI — March 18, 2026, nine people were injured in a truck accident at about 1 p.m. on Haggerty Road.

Authorities said a passenger sedan was heading south in the northbound lanes when it collided with a semi-truck that was turning onto Ford Road, causing a fire when spilled fuel or another fluid ignited. The flames were so intense they melted the traffic lights at the crash site.

Five people who were rescued from the wrecked vehicles were hospitalized with serious injuries, authorities said. Four police officers suffered unspecified injuries as they were freeing them.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Wayne County crash at this time. The accident is still under investigation
